Isn't he scrumptious!
A friend of mine asked me to photograph her grandson as a surprise Mother's Day gift to her daughter. Wasn't that sweet? I love it when people do super special things for others! I was more than happy to help out and needed the experience using my new studio strobes. This little guy was quite the scrumptious babe and he was all full of smiles! Here are just a few of my faves from that session:

Navy Man w. a Bike
Recently I had the pleasure of photographing a friend of the family..a US Navy man I might add!..and his motorcycle. We shot his photos midday and working around the harsh sunlight and shadows was quite challenging. All and all though I was pleased with how they turned out and we couldn't have asked for a better backdrop.

He also brought his brother along for the shoot which was helpful! He's into the graphic arts scene and is fascinated with photography as well. I just had to get a couple "brother" shots in as well.

camera club assignment
I recently joined a new camera club (which i love!) and every month they speak on a new topic. Part of this club also involves a different themed photo assignment each month. I've attended 2 meeting thus far and theme #1 was Out of the Box. At first I was stumped about what I would take a picture of to fit this category but not too long afterwards I thought to myself, "Hey, my decorating is a bit out of the box, so I'll just go ahead and do something around that." And so I did and this is what I submitted:

Then theme #2 rolled around and it was Paperwork/Business. My initial reaction was 'boring'...
But then I remembered this quaint old outhouse at a rural cemetary and how it could work out perfectly for this assignmnent. I grabbed my 2 boys and a roll of toilet paper and we got to business. I think the photo is pretty self-explanatory. Little J is doing his "business" and Little N is checking to see if he's finished his "paperwork."

Good Times!
This shoot was my very first "senior" session. We had ourselves a willing participant and a beautiful day in March- what more could we ask for. This beautiful young lady is beyond amazing with her piano skills so of course we had to include pictures with her Baby Grand.

After those we headed outside and came up with these. They live on some gorgeous lake front property with 40 acres so we had lots of pretty backdrops courtesy of Mother Nature.

Welcome to my new photography blog!
To those of you that know me well you know that I am not new to the whole blogging thing. I managed a blog related to my sewing career for a couple years but since then a new passion has struck me and that my friends is photography! (I still sew though too!) I decided this would be the best avenue for me to share my latest sessions with all of you and hopefully expand this new growing business of mine. You'll also notice that I'll be referring to "we" a lot. My great friend and Aunt Susie is also along for the ride. She loves the whole creative side of photography and doesn't want to deal with all the techy stuff; that's where I come in. We both have been blessed with creative minds and there's no end to what we can dream up!
I guess I'll start this blog with pictures taken of a cousin of mine just 2 evenings ago . She wasn't sure what to expect being she never had senior portraits taken but she did just fine. She came prepared with a bunch of tops and different shades of denim jeans which was cool for us. When we mentioned that she'd be walking in the frigid lake with her jeans on we got kind of a strange look from her! But that was one of my absolute favorite images from that night and that's what really matters right.
